BARS AND RESTAURANTS

This lively enclave is packed with restaurants whose menus feature fish and seafood, and a great variety of bars and cafes open 24 hours a day.
The caldereta ( stew ) of lobster is indoubtedly one of the most appreciated dishes. Not far behind are three recipes , charactheristic of the island which can be found in many restaurants - stuf - fed squid , " perol " of baked cuttlefish and backed fish with patatoes .

Typical meat dishes are stewsa of beef , pork , lamb or rabbit . A large variety of sausages are produced here , such as " carn i xua " (similar to a corase-cut salami ) , " sobrasada " ( a paprika-flavoured spreading sausage ) ,...

Other products typical of the island are Mahon-Menorca cheese , made in mainly from cow´s milk and bearing its own denomination controleé , and gin wich is made in a still , a legay od British occupation of Menorca.

Finally , the islands´confectionary is famous , especially the " pastissets " ( little biscuits ) , the " crespells " ( a kind of shortbread ) , the " ensaimadas " ( a spiral-shaped breakfast pastry ) and locally-made ice cream
